A Substitute Teacher’s Prayer

Dear Lord,
Today, I will walk into a school for the first time in a long time.
Please fill my heart with love for students I meet in class and while walking from room to room.
Allow me to watch over classes and materials with care as you watch over the teacher I am in for.
If she is sick, bring her healing. If she has family needs, bring her love. If she is on a work day, bring light to her next lessons. If she needs a day off, bring her peace and rest.
Remind me that I am a servant to you my Lord and let me reflect your light even in moments of darkness.
Allow me to hold my tongue when I need to but to guide with your wisdom when your will desires it.
While I am not allowed to utter your name in this public school, please allow all whom I meet to know you through my actions as I treat each student with respect and dignity worthy of all your children.
Although I may only be in the lives of some of the students for a few moments, let those moments be filled with love, compassion, and strength.
Please allow me to leave the building at the end of the day, to lie my head on my pillow tonight knowing I was the hands and feet of Jesus.
Dear Lord, please show me the way today.
I also want to thank you Lord.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity.
Thank you for allowing me to learn through the faculty, students, and parents I will meet today.
Thank you for the bright beginning this day brings
Thank you for holding me in the palm of your hand through it all.
Thank you Lord for giving me my own blessed children.
Thank you for being with them even when I cannot hold their hand.
Thank you Lord for showing me the way today.
