Believe in the Impossible!

Believing in the impossible seems to be my theme for the week. Sometimes themes just develops naturally like that. This one did.

Fortunately, I rarely struggle for written words and am getting better at spoken words through podcasting too. It’s amazing to think of that. Spoken words were my nemesis for the longest time, most of my life actually.

In elementary school, I stuttered and had difficulty with pronunciations, especially with “s” and “th” sounds. I went to speech classes. I loved one speech teacher but wasn’t crazy about the other. Either way, my reluctance to speak had little to do with them.

I have ideas of what may have made me not want to be the life of the party or the one who stood up in front of everyone in look-at-me mode, but none of those ideas is concrete. I do not dwell on my younger self’s self-consciousness but accept it as a matter of fact.

I do not think of it much anymore except to be amazed by how far I’ve come – praise God! That younger me is a part of what made me who I am today, but it is not who I am today.

And therein lies the miracle!

Therein lies the belief in the impossible. I never would have seen myself as a public speaker. I never would have seen myself leading women who had been through rough times. I never would have seen myself as being in love with the Holy Spirit, the Lord and my God never mind My Mary and all the Angels and Saints, yet here I am.

Yet, here I am!

I do what was once impossible for me.

In this week’s podcasts, the theme, doing the impossible, took off naturally. Of course, doing the impossible begins with Jesus being raised from the dead, His very own Resurrection!

Talk about doing the impossible – yet nothing is impossible with (or for!) God.

Today we tend to take that for granted. Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried and then rose from the dead over 2,000 years ago. In those years it seems many of us (myself included) have lost the awe and reverence of that! We have lost how crazy impossible that was!

How crazy impossible that still is!

BUT GOD!

 

So here is what I have been wondering this week…what else do I think is “impossible” that I just have not tried or have not considered? What else have I shrugged off not realizing God is the one putting that thought in my head or that song in my heart? What can I do, not under my power, but in His?

It’s something I will have to think about.

What dream have you set aside? What aspiration have you been told you were not good enough to meet? What goal have you tucked away afraid to share?

What would you do, if you only believed x was impossible…BUT GOD?!?
