Liebster Award – Thanks, Boogers Are Yucky!

Liebster Award
Liebster Award – Thank you Lizzie Lau from Boogers are Yucky for nominating me!

Lizzie at Boogers Are Yucky (Really, can you think of a more truthful title???) nominated me for a Liebster Award.   The Liebster Award is an accolade passed around by bloggers with fewer than 500 followers.  It’s a way to give bloggers an exposure boost, and a little love. Liebster is a German term of endearment that translates as that means sweetheart, beloved, or darling. I was honored to be chosen by Lizzie and am delighted at the opportunity to pass it on.

To accept the Liebster Award, a blogger must:

  • Make a post about the award, thanking the blogger that nominated you.
  • State 11 interesting facts about yourself
  • Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger that nominated you
  • Nominate 11 new bloggers with 500 or less followers
  • Write 11 new questions for your nominees

11 Things About Me

  1. I was born in NYC, but am definitely a country girl – country music, country fairs, & country fresh air!
  2. After my husband left, I took my 4 boys tent camping while 8 months pregnant – a tornado touched down less than a mile from our campground. It definitely gave us something else to talk about! 😉
  3. I’ve since taken my boys camping up and down the coast and out to the Creation Museum in Kentucky where we survived more intense storms. We LOVED the Creation Museum!
  4. I travel the country camping but am afraid to order a pizza – It doesn’t make sense to me either! 🙂
  5. One of my best friends caused lasting scars when she told me the reason my hair was curly was because my mother didn’t cut the crust off my bread like hers did! 😉
  6. Hoping God won’t notice and I’ll eventually wake up with straight hair, I eat my pizza, crust first.
  7. It just occurred to me that the curly hair thing and the pizza crust first thing may explain #4.
  8. I play many sports, but was once asked if I had a motor disability while aerobic dancing. That day, I bought a step and have never done aerobic dancing in public again.
  9. When I couldn’t find a “real job,” I started my own business and have helped 100’s of kids get into their top colleges including Harvard, Cornell, William & Mary, and Notre Dame among others.
  10. Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber would be close to my ideal ticket in 2106
  11. I spend some time with the Lord every day, either reading the Bible or praying the Rosary. This is how I survive.

  2. Thank you, so much, dear Strahlen!! I truly appreciate your kindness & encouragement [with nomination]; and must apologize for the delay in my response here. I had been expecting to get to dive into your wonderful questions (and into this fun endeavor) rather quickly—but my recent whacky schedule (not to mention these overly sleepy late-night eyes of mine!) just hasn’t cooperated! Still, much love to you always. Happy Mother’s Day! ♥Eileen

  3. Yay! Thanks for playing along and paying it forward!

The motor disability while doing aerobics made me laugh out loud. I know I look spazzy trying to do a Tracey Anderson video or even the boxing moves on P90X. I’m glad there is no mirror in the gym to remind me!

    1. lol Sure! I have to say, when I read your comment I groaned…Did I really write about that aerobics/motor disability thing??? haha I can’t imagine you look as spazzy as I do, but maybe we start our own YouTube channel of just spazzy aerobics dancers or something. I bet it’d be a hit! 😉
Truthfully, I keep saing I have to try p90x – maybe you’ve inspired me to give it a shot this summer – Thanks, Liz!

  4. I sure did enjoy learning more about you. Camping a mile from where a thunderstrorm was??? Yikes! I hate to order pizza, too. Choice overload! As for curly hair, my mom DID cut the crusts off my bread, so I think perhaps your friend’s conclusion was flawed. LOL. Your 11 questions that you posed for other bloggers are very thoughtful!

    1. lol Thanks Zoanna! Yes, the thunderstorm thing was a bit of an adventure. I have mixed feelings hearing about the crust on the bread and the curly hair thing though! If I can’t blame mom then it’s got to be simple genetics and I’ll never get straight hair, but, as a mom, it’s also nice to know I can’t be blamed for everything! 😉

  5. Hi Strahlen! Thank you so much for naming me in your Leibster Award Nominee list. You are so kind! And I feel very blessed that you and I have met on your blog.

Victor is very clever, and I am not 🙂 But I’ll give your questions a try:
    1) Loving
    2) Somewhere warmer than the Midwest. New Mexico sounds nice.
    3) Gone With the Wind
    4) Same as yours. Writer/speaker/motivator for the Lord!
    5) The woman with the hemorrhage. So many lessons in that short passage.
    6) Christmas
    7) Can I get seashore and mountains together?
    8) If I say I will, I will.
    9) Start writing earlier
    10) Go to mass and Adoration
    11) Actually, this is my day as leader for Adoration for our church. Done!
PS We had pizza for dinner. Seriously! And, I love Lindor too 🙂

    1. Great answers, Ceil. I especially like #8! Original and I think God appreciates those who keep their word even when it’s hard to do so. I enjoy reading your posts and thank you for stopping by here! 🙂

  6. Congratulations on your Liebster award. What a surprose to fing you’ve nominated me. Thank you so much. I’m honoured and embarrassed. Here are my answers:

What is one word to define you? Embarrassed
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Right here. everywhere else seems so far away.
What is your favorite book? Very difficult question – The Bible, “I am with you by Father John Woolley (I highly recommend this book), “From Prison to Praise” by Merlin Carothers (also highly recommended) Chaucer; I’ve even been known to read my own books. Try them FREE at my website.
What is your dream job? Watching other people work.
What is your favorite Bible passage or verse? And I shall be with you always. To the end of time. (Matthew 28:19).
What is your favorite holiday? Nothing specific. Seaside or mountains and countryside.
Mountains, seashore, flatlands? All of them really. as long as it is peaceful and quiet.
What is your greatest strength? Resisting chocolates for at least 10 minutes.
If you could do life over again, what is the one thing you would do? I doubt I would do anything differently.
If you knew life was ending tomorrow, what is the one thing you would do? You mean life thoughout the world? All life would end … hmmm … I’d wait till midnight … one minute to go … then I would give a large sum of money to the one person I dislike the most and then watch him not able to spend it. (Joke).
What is holding you back from doing that today? You can’t guarantee the world will end tomorrow.

Great questions. It was fun answering them. Thank you.

    God bless you and yours.

    1. Thank you Victor! Hope I didn’t take too much of your time. I found you on ACWB and really enjoy Time for Reflections. Some of your answers were really great – love the answer to where you’d live and if life ended tomorrow. Also enjoyed seeing you wouldn’t do anything differently – that’s a rare treat! God Bless…

    1. You are an amazing woman Melanie! Your posts are beautiful, and I also appreciate all you’re doing to help spread the word. I don’t have a huge audience (yet 😉 ), but I hope this gives you a bit more exposure!
