Several women have written to me over the three years since I started Single Mom Smiling. There are some women whose stories I hold close to my heart and will never share here because the women have asked me not to. Other women, like Tara, feel there is nowhere else to turn, that they have been backed into a corner. At some point they either stand and fight for change or become so desperate they no longer care who knows what.
That is often when they decide to share their stories.
In lieu of today’s post, please read Tara’s Story. Tara is a mother of three boys struggling to make ends meet after obtaining sole custody of her children from her abusive ex-husband.
Yesterday, I spoke of why I share other women’s stories.
I appreciate your comments on any posts, especially with regard to the stories shared by these women. The System is broken, perpetuating poverty and pain. We need new voices getting stories out and offering solutions. Feel free to add your voice through suggestions, comments, or support offered to Tara or others.
While I welcome comments, I will protect these women and their children from blatantly non-constructive, negative comments. They have seen enough negativity to last several lifetimes.
And finally…I hope you will join me in praying for all the victims of domestic violence, those who truly have no voice. Please pray especially hard for Tara and her family this week. Pray that they will know there is hope for the future (Jeremiah 29:11) and that they are Loved perfectly (John 3:16)

Tara, you and your boys are in my prayers.
