The Book of Wisdom has provided comfort the past few days as I prepared for my final divorce trial. Today we will go to the county courthouse and pay thousands of dollars in lawyer fees and use countless thousands in taxpayer money to give my husband his freedom.
I know that sounds bitter, but it is not meant to be. It is more astonishment that he would choose to leave a loving family and that I now see such a different side to him. I no longer recognize him as my husband and I am able to let him go, but that does not entirely eliminate the pain, confusion, or exhaustion today will bring.
I needed God to help me through this and allowed him to open the Bible for me. With all the Bible reading I’ve done over the past three years, I had never read the Book of Wisdom. It is as though God was saving it for me to read when I needed to right before the divorce trial.
Today I have simply included some quotes from the beginning of the Book of Wisdom and ask that you pray for me as you read them today. Thank you
Words of Wisdom from The Book of Wisdom
Because God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living (Wisdom 1:13)
But let our strength be our norm of justice; for weakness proves itself useless. (Wisdom 2:11)
For God formed man to be imperishable; the image of his own nature he made him. But by the envy of the devil, death entered the world, and they who are in his possession experience it (Wisdom 2: 4-5)
For if before men, indeed, they be punished, yet is their hope full of immortality; Chastised a little they shall be greatly blessed, God tried them and found them worthy of himself. (Wisdom 3:4-5)
There are plenty of other quotes and passages from the Book of Wisdom that will provide you with strength, peace, and yes, wisdom. Because of time constraints and getting ready for my own trial, I have to stop here.
Please keep me in your prayers today. Thank you and God Bless… ____________________________________________________________________________________
I hope Wednesday SMS posts help you hold onto faith in the face of difficulties, offer understanding to the incomprehensible, and peace in turmoil through my unschooled look into the Bible.
Our Heavenly Father is honored by our surrender to His will. He is, after all, the Highest Judge. His mercy is beyond measure. Praises be to Jesus forever!
Yes, Lora. You are so right. There were so many times I wanted to send off a cutting text message or do something else to exact revenge and stopped (Unfortunately, I will also sadly admit that there are too many times I wanted to and did) because I know it is not my place to exact revenge. It is God’s place to judge and to do so fairly knowing both sides. I hadn’t read this post in a while – Thank you for commenting.
